THE ULTIMATE HAIR MAKEOVER

Pardon this but I really need to start this entry with an O M G!

I think I just found the chicest hairstylist in London!!!

I just came from Westfield mall to test some makeup products when I happened to pass-by Rush Hair salon. There were a lot or customers inside so I thought of inquiring about their cut and color services.

Adam, the receptionist, was so accommodating that it made me feel like I could be bothered for a few hours at the salon.

He immediately told me about the promo! 25% for first time customers.

Then he referred me to Jade for a consultation. Jade was so friendly yet very professional. She listened to what I wanted and gave her inputs as well. Plus, she didn’t fail to mention that it’s Color Wednesday so they’re giving a 50% price cut on all coloring services including highlights! My eyes dilated like I just fell in love for the first time!

Ever since my hairstylist friend Ferdie left for the Philippines, I worried about how long and ugly my hair would grow out because I can’t afford a full-blown salon pampering here in London. #poorstudent

So thank you Rush Hair for the treat!!!

I came in looking like this:

Jade colored my hair flat brown with subtle highlights in front and mid-level down to the tips. (She didn’t put a lot of highlights on top of my hair so it will be easier to touch-up when it grows. Brilliant!

And I got out of the salon looking like this:

That’s the #instavideo we made to document the entire process!!!

My hair feels so light because she layered it also but not too much to manage the volume of my lush tresses.

Here are Jade’s Expert Tips in making sure my hair stays this way all the time;

1) When shampooing, just concentrate on the scalp area. Rinsing the shampoo will cleanse the rest of the hair. This saves the product and it won’t dry the rest of your hair.

2) When putting on conditioner, avoid the top part of the hair as it will add to the natural oils that your hair already has. Start conditioning from mid-level down to the tips.

3) After shampooing, pat dry the hair first before applying the conditioner. This way, the water won’t repel the product. It will also make the hair feel lighter.

4) Don’t go beyond 12 weeks without getting a follow-up root touch-up and trim!

*Rush Hair gives a complimentary follow-up service. And they give discounts when you recommend a friend. Plus, your friend gets £20 off!!!

5) Before you blow-dry or iron your hair, spray a heat protection product.

I love that Jade did everything on my hair—from color to cut to blow-dry! She didn’t have any assistants. She said that’s why she likes working at Rush because they allow them to do everything on a client and she feels like she can attend to each one better like that. Quite different from the salons in the Philippines where the stylist only gets to do the cut. Well, I like Alex Carbonell because although his assistants color and blow-dry the hair, he makes sure that he directs and supervises them well.

I am so happy! I think this is money well-spent! Jade will be my official “make-me-look-like-human-again-please” fairy godmother!!!!

Feeling Best Tressed,
d.
